Fall Classic Game 7 Attracts 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japanese Markets.

The exciting extended clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined 51 million viewers in the US, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB reported this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game secured 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to Nielsen, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth position.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it averaged 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience increases for two straight seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew over 8 million watchers, an 8% rise over last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
