The Black Phone
Scott Derrickson's claustrophobic thriller stands strong without requiring a sequel. Taking place in 1978 Denver, multiple child abductions has left the youth anxious. The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the conflict between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for materialism in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky film adaptation regarding the shamed religious broadcaster and her criminal husband. The actor plays the greedy Jim, who states initially, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals begin monetising the people's religious faith. It's a spectacle of poor styling, overdone appearance and bad faith, though the lead actress succeeds to depict the character in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, on Film4
